Warfarin is a highly effective orally administered anticoagulant. However, its use is limited by the high risk of bleeding. Its extremely low solubility in biological fluids is another limitation of its practical use. Consequently, it has low bioavailability. This study proposes a method for increasing the hydrophilicity and bioavailability of warfarin by producing a suspension of nanospheres in which the drug is incorporated into a lactic-glycolic acid copolymer shell. This method also prevents bleeding because the drug is released gradually, resulting in a prolonged action. The study examined the physicochemical properties of the suspension and the kinetics of drug release.
