Atomic resolution microscopy of intermetallic clathrates Aberration-corrected STEM and TEM with the recently installed double-corrected Grand ARM opens new horizons for the Department Chemical Metal Science at the MPI CPfS. A great number of intermetallic compounds, which exhibit both highest structural complexity and beauty, are waiting to be investigated. Long lasting problems should be finally solved. The intermetallic clathrates are prime examples for the need of the highest possible resolution. First results are presented for a potassium borosilicide with clathrate-I structure.

Optimal conditions for the isolation of products of auto-enzymatic hydrolysis of nucleic acids have been determined. The composition of biologically active substances of the preparation is analyzed and the content of adenine nucleotides, as well as other biologically active substances is revealed. The activation effect of the nucleotide preparation on Ca2+-dependent NO-synthase was evaluated as compared with the T-activator.
Investigations in qualitative and quantitative determination of biologically active substances of raspberry fruits conserved by different methods The effect of freezing and drying on the content of biologically active substances in fruits of raspberries was studied. Qualitative analysis was carried out by thin-layer chromatography. For the quantitative analysis of organic acids, the coulometric method was used. Tannins were determined by permanganometric titration. The content of anthocyanins was determined spectrophotometrically, polysaccharides were determined by gravimetry. A comparative analysis of the effect of the conservation method on the preservation of the quality of raspberry fruits has been carried out.
