This article presents the history of the establishment and scientific work of the A. V. Nikolaev Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IIC SB RAS) from its founding to the present day. The article presents the Institute“s research areas in the field of producing high-purity substances and functional materials. The development of methods for the deep purification of the precursor for the synthesis of functional materials for microelectronics, energy, nuclear physics and other applications is discussed. Methods of quantitative chemical analysis using the preconcentration of trace elements and techniques for increasing of the efficiency of sample injection into excitation and ionization sources to reduce the limits detection are discussed.
